# IP rating

[IP code](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_Code) tells you whether a device is dustproof and/or waterproof. Only our OAK PoE
devices have an IP rating, current version of USB devices do not have an IP rating.

## OAK4

All OAK4 camera models are designed to meet IP67 ingress protection requirements in accordance with IEC 60529:2013.
[OAK-4-CS](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-4-cs) is rated IP67 when used with the Lens Hood; otherwise, it is rated IP65.

Testing Summary

 * Rating Achieved: IP67 (dust-tight and protected against temporary immersion in water)
 * Tested Models: [OAK4-D Pro](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-4-d-ea), [OAK4-D](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-4-d),
   [OAK4-S](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-4-s-ea)

Test Conditions

 * Devices were fully submerged in their normal service position
 * Immersion depth: 1 meter
 * Duration: 30 minutes Units were non-operational and connected with a test cable during testing

Results

 * No water ingress was observed inside the enclosure
 * Devices maintained normal functionality after testing

This certification ensures the OAK4 devices are suitable for use in demanding environments where exposure to dust and temporary
water immersion may occur. The IP certification along with other environmental documentation can be found in the [store under
Technical Specifications](https://shop.luxonis.com/products).

### PoE cameras

Series 1 PoE devices ([OAK-D PoE](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-D%2520PoE.md) and [OAK-1
PoE](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-1%2520PoE.md)), [OAK-D
ToF](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-D%2520ToF.md), and [OAK
Thermal](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK%2520Thermal.md) are shipped with an IP67 rated enclosure. It means that
the device is protected from total dust ingress and that it's protected from water immersion between 15 centimeters and 1 meter in
depth.

[OAK-D S2 PoE](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-D%2520S2%2520PoE.md) (and all its variants, so
[-W](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-D%2520W%2520PoE.md),
[-Pro](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-D%2520Pro%2520PoE.md), and
[-Pro-W](https://docs.luxonis.com/hardware/products/OAK-D%2520Pro%2520W%2520PoE.md)) have IP65 rated enclosure.

PoE enclosures have gaskets which makes them waterproof/dustproof:

#### Internal testing

Here's our testing setup for the enclosures used in our R&D process. The drum, filled with water, has a height of 1 meter. We
conducted extended testing on these two enclosures.

### USB cameras

In 2024 we started shipping an USB with screw-locking mechanism ([shop
link](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/usb-3-cable-type-c-to-type-a)) along with several of our cameras;
[OAK-D-W](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-d-w), [OAK-D Pro](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-d-pro), and [OAK-D Pro
W](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-d-pro-w).

This cable is water-proof, and provides IP66 protection to the cameras. If you wish to have
[OAK-D-S2](https://shop.luxonis.com/products/oak-d-s2) with IP66 protection, you can order this cable separately, as by default it
ships with a standard USB cable (non-waterproof).

#### USB IP certification

For testing and certification we are using a 3rd party certified laboratory. The certificate for the Series 2 USB cameras is
available [here](https://files.luxonis.com/store-files/Series2-ip66-cert.pdf).

The photos and video below were captured during the water resistance certification process.
